EUDR: Impact on Cocoa Derivatives and Producers' Strategies
The implementation of the EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) continues to reshape the commercial landscape of cocoa and its derivatives globally. Producers and exporters must now adapt to stricter traceability and sustainability requirements, which directly impacts the necessary documentary preparation for export.

In Cameroon, where cocoa production is a pillar of the economy, market players are focusing on improving product quality while adhering to new regulations. Derivatives such as cocoa butter, cocoa powder, and cocoa mass are becoming key elements in this transition. The growing demand for sustainable products in Europe is pushing producers to rethink their farming and processing methods.
Cocoa prices in the international market remain a crucial indicator. Currently, the price of cocoa stands at £4173/T on ICE London, showing a slight increase of 0.92%. This trend could be influenced by the increasing pressure from EUDR regulations, which encourage producers to enhance their agricultural practices.
Meanwhile, the coffee market in Cameroon also shows signs of dynamism, with arabica prices at 4362 FCFA/KG and robusta at 1927 FCFA/KG, according to ONCC data. These figures, up by 1.18% and 1.37% respectively, reflect sustained demand for Cameroonian coffee in the international market.

The importance of documentary preparation for EUDR cannot be underestimated. Producers must ensure that their practices align with sustainability requirements, necessitating rigorous and transparent documentation. Exporters need to be able to prove that their products do not contribute to deforestation, which presents an additional challenge in an already competitive market.
In conclusion, the implementation of EUDR presents both challenges and opportunities for cocoa and coffee producers in Cameroon. As prices continue to fluctuate, the ability of producers to adapt to sustainability requirements will be crucial for their long-term success. Industry players must prepare for these changes while maintaining product quality.
